Role
The Souled Coach engages students within the program to develop meaningful bonds, and to guide and encourage students with their Jewish observance. This pivotal role ensures that students are guided in their maximization of educational learning with practical application.
Hours
15-20 hours per week
Compensation
Starting at $30/hour
Responsibilities
  • Engage each student on caseload once a week or once every two weeks, and develop relationships, incorporate learning, and connect students to available Olami or other local resources.
  • Assist students in choosing topics and goals from the Souled suggested curricula.
  • Come prepared to each meeting with the appropriate learning material.
  • Connect students to live events and activities, including Souled Circles, virtual learning, community hosting, events, and trips that facilitate growth in their Jewish observance.

Administrative responsibilities

  • Fill out a report on each meeting with a student within 24 hours of the session
  • Update timesheet with daily worked hours.
  • Ensure that meetings are scheduled with students, using the program scheduling tool.
  • Work collaboratively with the Souled Coach Supervisor, Program Director, Operations Director, and the Student Advancement Coordinator in supporting the students within the program to determine their progress and develop strategies to advance their Jewish observance.
  • Play an active and supportive role in the “hand-off” of students to local organizations, Souled Partners, and other resources.
  • Become knowledgeable and frequently offer in-person experiences and trips to students to advance their growth.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, as well as Olami staff training and development initiatives to assure self-refinement and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Souled Coach Manager or Souled Management.
Requirements
  • Well-rounded role model with deeply rooted passion for Judaism and dedication to serving the needs of the Jewish Community
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and social/emotional intelligence.
  • Effective listening skills.
  • Ability to understand concepts and communicate them effectively.
  • Ability to coach others to make strides in their personal development.
  • You must have a home computer or laptop, a strong internet connection, and access to WhatsApp.
Work Schedule
Although daily hours may differ throughout the week, hours are based on availability and may fluctuate. The role does not guarantee a set number of hours each week, as student caseloads and work hours will vary, particularly in the first six weeks of training while building a student caseload. The coach must be available to work both daytime and evening hours.
Work Environment
Work is performed within a remote office setting; a coach is required to meet with students on a computer/laptop (not a mobile device) using Zoom. May include travel once per year for a staff conference, per the Program Director, and additional opportunities to attend local events and host Shabbat experiences.
Communication Skills
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
